About Abigail

My Vision for Married By Abigail is to provide a range of bespoke, beautiful & inclusive event services to create modern wedding celebrations.

It is super important to me that my services are tailored to the needs & vibe of the couple, as well as their respective communities so that everyone can have an amazing, immersive event experience.

So for me, my mission as an Authorised Celebrant is to work with couples from all walks of life who want their wedding to be an authentic expression of their values, their community and, above all, their love. In practice, this means a ceremony with a proper Acknowledgement of Country, recognition and celebration of Marriage Equality and a hard pass on unnecessarily gendered jokes that bring the mood down – no ‘ball & chain’ references EVER.

Instead, you will have a beautifully curated contemporary ceremony that is heartfelt, funny and personal – what could be better?

So, why choose Abigail?

You are in very capable hands

Due to my background in Performing Arts, Writing and Education, I bring a unique blend of skills to the table that take you from brainstorming your ceremony ideas to completing your legals with ease and fun.

I was a High School English/Drama Teacher for over a decade, working mostly in Government schools so I know how to command a space, manage a crowd and deliver an engaging ceremony that will leave a lasting impression. I also have a flair for helping people compose beautiful personal vows, so if you’re anxious about getting your feelings coherently onto paper – I’ve got you!

Finally, I am First Aid trained and come to prepared with an insanely stocked celebrant kit, ready for anything.

One Vendor, many services

Wedding planning is a marathon, not a sprint, and it can feel overwhelming with all the different vendors, people wrangling and decision fatigue – Not cutesy, Not Demure!

When you book me as your celebrant, you get more than just a ceremony officiant. You gain access you a range of services that will help streamline your planning process, including floral ceremony rentals, MC duties, bouquet preservation, and bespoke tiaras. For you, this means fewer vendors to chase up and a simplified planning process – Very mindful, Very Demure!

Your wedding, your look

Marriage Celebrants play the role of the narrator of the couples ceremony, not the star and I pride myself on styling my look to match your theme.

Celebrants often end up in many of your ceremony shots so to ensure I don’t pull focus from the couple, I like to dress to match their aesthetic and essentially look like ‘part of the furniture. You don’t want to have spent all that time planning a ceremony to have a celebrant show up in an outfit that you are not a fan of. I often custom make my outfits to have pockets and features to hide my lapel mic and microphone packs as this can look untidy in pictures.’

I also have a Cert II in Make Up Services and have completed training short courses for hair styling, which means that I will rock up on the day looking polished and professional, which is what you want for someone who ends up in the background of many of your pictures. I also love to sew and never hesitate to make myself a custom outfits and accessories to team with your theme to get the look you’re after.

FAQs about Abigail

  • Yes. I am an Authorised Celebrant who is registered with the Attorney-General's Department.

This means that I am able to conduct legally binding marriage ceremonies anywhere in Australia.

  • In my experience, the most memorable and special ceremonies are the perfect blend of heartfelt, funny and, above all, authentic. I always aim to strike a balance of these components for all of my occasions.

When crafting my ceremonies I try to write using ‘the collective voice’ of the couple – how they talk, their style of humour, their slang. Language is important to get right for your nuptials as it can be the difference between telling the couple’s story by merely describing their timeline, versus the telling of an enchanting rom-com style first meeting in the lovers’ own words.

Modern love stories can be all parts awkward as it is amazing and I try to capture this universal truth in my ceremony scripts, while still keeping things on the PG side for your guests haha!

  • Not only will I wear a particular outfit, I will style my hair, makeup, nails , shoes accessories - you name it - to curate a cohesive look that won't detract from the couple or wedding party outfits.

I have a range of outfits that are different colours and styles that you can choose for me to wear, or alternatively I will source a specific look or colour palette at the expense of the couple.

  • Absolutely! Love to travel and happy to do so.

I can conduct ceremonies anywhere in Australia and can come to you for your big day.
